PCL

Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) Tears
PCL tears usually happen due to high-impact injuries and are often linked with other ligament injuries in the knee. When the PCL is injured on its own (isolated injury), doctors carefully check how loose the knee is (grade of laxity) and whether any bone injuries are present.

Treatment options for PCL tears
Based on the severity and type of injury, treatment may include:

Bracing to support the knee.

Rest and Rehabilitation Exercises to help the knee recover and strengthen surrounding muscles.

Arthroscopic PCL Avulsion Fixation — a minimally invasive surgery to fix the ligament when it pulls off a piece of bone.

Open PCL Avulsion Fixation — open surgery for fixing bone avulsions.

Arthroscopic Single-Bundle PCL Reconstruction — surgery to rebuild one part of the ligament.

Arthroscopic Double-Bundle PCL Reconstruction — surgery to rebuild both parts of the ligament for better stability.

Your knee specialist at SV Ortho Care will evaluate your injury in detail and recommend the most suitable treatment for you.
